Your Hair Growth Questions Answered: Hair Growth FAQ

Does Biotin Help Hair Growth?

Hair Growth Pills was created to help you to answer your hair growth questions. We began by focusing on the big questions and we answered them in detail. However, before long you began to ask many more questions. We have done our best to keep up, which is why you can find hundreds of articles across this website, but to help make life easier for you we like to compile some of them into FAQ articles every now and then.

That’s what this article is. These questions all focus on hair growth, and your questions concerning them. We have also written an FAQ on hair loss where we study the many things that can trigger it. So, check the article below out first and then take a look at that one if you still have some questions.

What Vitamins are Good For Hair Growth?

One of the best vitamins for hair growth is Biotin, which we will discuss in more detail below. There are many other vitamins that cam help to trigger hair growth though. These include everything from Vitamin C to B Vitamins, Vitamin D and more. Minerals like Iron and Zinc can also help and are often included in hair growth supplements.

Does Biotin Help Hair Growth?

Of course! This is actually something we have addressed at great length in the past. If you take a look at out Biotin for Hair Loss article you will see what we had to say about this B Vitamin. It is one that we discuss more than any other, and you will notice that it is also found in all kinds of hair growth supplements and shampoos.

That’s because Biotin helps with the hair growth process. It is actually involved in that process, helping the body to create the enzymes that it needs to activate those hair follicles and get that hair growing. The same can be said for many B Vitamins, but Biotin plays the biggest role of all.

How Much Biotin for Hair Growth?

This vitamin is abundant in food and you should be getting enough of it regardless of what you eat and even if you are a picky eater. However, more might be better. The hair growth supplements that contain this vitamin tend to have more than 500% of your RDA, if not more. It is a water soluble vitamin, so it’s okay to take high doses (to an extent) because what your body does not use will be eliminated.

However, you really don’t need that much. You should look to consume a few hundred percent of your RDA, preferably as 2 or 3 doses throughout the day. You can also use a topical solution in the form of a hair growth shampoo, although in this case there is really no concrete proof that it will do you any good.

How to Increase Hair Growth?

Increase Hair Growth?

There are many ways that you can increase hair growth. The way you choose will depend on a number of factors, from your health status to your budget, your sex and your age. For instance, if you have a lot of bald patches and a lot of money, then a hair transplant might be the best solution. If you prefer something non-invasive and the hair loss is not severe, then you can use supplements, vitamins and other natural solutions.

In all cases, you can also use products like Minoxidil, which is available (and FDA approved) for both men and women and should be relatively harmless in most cases. If you are a man and you are above the age of 40, then you may also benefit greatly from a medication known as Finasteride. This is basically a wonder drug as it works incredibly well for hair growth, but it can also stop your prostate to growing to painful proportions.

How to Promote Hair Growth?

As mentioned above, it’s just a matter of finding what works best for you. You may need to try many different hair growth formulas before you find one that works. In fact, many people suffering from hair loss do just that, but they often make life difficult for themselves in the process.

They try expensive shampoos for day or weeks; they try Minoxidil and give up quickly; and they rely too much on unproven supplements. There is no point in trying something if you’re not going to use it properly. So, always follow the advice on the label, always use the product for a full course of treatment, and never overdo it or rush it. Only when you have followed the label to the letter can you think about giving up if it does not work.

How to Stop Hair Growth?

Stop Hair Growth?

This is rarely a problem that people have with the hair on their head. And in all honesty, it’s something you should not look to stop with the hair on your head. It is a natural process and stopping it could cause harm. What’s more, it might be irreversible, so you could regret it at a later date.

As far as the hair on your body is concerned, this is less of an issue. As discussed in our Hair Growth Rate article, all hair grows at the same rate, but for many, the hair on the body is just not wanted.

There are laser treatments that can get rid of this, and there are also creams that may be able to help. The trick is to stop the hair follicle from working, which is not easy and usually more trouble than it’s worth. Instead of trying to stop the hair you should be looking for ways to keep growth to a minimum and to keep the area clean and well moisturized in order to limit problems and discomfort.

Does Coconut Oil Help Hair Growth?

At the very least coconut oil will help to protect, moisturize and strengthen you hair. It is highly unlikely that it will actually trigger hair growth, but because it can strengthen your hair, it may help to increase the hair on your head.

What’s more, this is a natural product and it’s also fairly cheap, so you don’t need to worry about it doing harm or causing side effects and you don’t need to worry about it costing you a small fortune to keep the supply going.

How to Stimulate Facial Hair Growth?

The best way to grow facial hair is just to keep the area clean and wait. This is very much a “watched pot never boils” situation. The more you stare and wig, the longer it seems and the more frustrated you become.

There are a few things you can do without resorting to Minoxidil and other medications though. If you pay a visit to our Eyebrow Growth page you will see that we recommend treatments like castor oil, aloe vera and other oils and vitamins. These nourish the hair follicle, protect the hair and they might just be able to help with hair growth. It’s not going to give you the Grizzly Adams look overnight, but it should protect at the worst and help to increase growth at the best.

How to Promote Beard Hair Growth?

As with the above, it’s just a case of proper cleaning and proper care. You can also use oils and other products and because it’s your beard and not eyebrows and eyelashes, it is easier to apply products and to leave them in overnight without worrying about anything getting in your eyes.

You can use castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil and a combination of all three. There are other oils and other substances that you can use as well. If you’re really struggling with beard hair growth then you may also want to try using Minoxidil on your beard.

Does Castor Oil Work for Hair Growth?

Does Castor Oil Help Hair Growth?

This is one of the oils that we recommend the most for hair growth as it is one that actually seems to work. Not only can it protect, but it can also nourish. It does this via its Vitamin E content, which is great for the skin. Castor oil can also help to kill bacteria that sits on your skin and inhibits hair growth. This bacteria will not make a huge difference in your hair growth fortunes, but it’s just one of the many ways that this substance can help.

How Much Castor Oil to Use for Hair Growth?

You don’t need a lot of this substance to help with hair growth. You should dilute it and/or add it to something else. We often recommend using it with aloe vera gel when applying it to your beard, your eyebrows and your eyelashes, and mixing it with water when applying it to your head.

You should try and leave it in for at least an hour or two to get the most benefit out of it and to allow the castor oil to work. This can be tricky because it’s an oil, which is why it is important to mix it with a substance that gels, forms and sticks.

Does Folic Acid Help Hair Growth?

This is something that we haven’t covered a lot, because as far as we can see, folic acid does not help with hair growth. It is a good vitamin to take and it can certainly help when consumed with other hair growth vitamins, but on its own it is unlikely to cause any noticeable difference.

That is, of course, unless you are suffering from a deficiency. In such cases you may be experiencing hair loss and/or thinning of the hair because of a lack of this important vitamin. By adding it back to your diet you can reverse those problems.
